Senior Manager, Supply Chain

Reports to: Director, Commercial Supply and Logistics

Direct reports: None

Job Description:

The Senior Manager, Supply Chain will play a key role in building Alder’s commercial end-to-end supply chain capabilities as we near product approval and launch. This supply chain role will be responsible for commercial distribution and fulfillment, including direct management of Alder’s external 3PL firm. This opportunity will allow the successful candidate to design and implement supply chain business processes and technology solutions for Alder’s product supply network. This position will be filled at a level commensurate with experience.

Specific responsibilities will include:

  • Lead integration of 3PL firm for distribution and fulfillment of Alder’s commercial products.
  • Set up long term sustainable processes and reporting to effectively manage 3PL distribution operations.
  • In conjunction with Regulatory, Quality, and IT, develop and implement recall procedures that effectively integrate with 3PL systems.
  • Ensure compliance with US regulations governing movement of material through the commercial supply chain, including product serialization.
  • Collaborate with commercial teams to ensure seamless integration of business operations between 3PL and Specialty Distributor(s)/Pharma(s) and Physicians.
  • Collaborate with finance, commercial, clinical, and supply teams to design and implement process, systems and metrics for the S&OP process; deliver launch KPIs around supply readiness and variance.
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams and consulting firms to identify, lead and implement supply chain systems to accommodate new business requirements and enable process improvements, including material control and planning.
  • Responsible for supply and inventory modeling to support proposals for:
    • S&OP process.
    • Annual budgeting process.
    • Operating inventory targets and associated planning parameters including safety stock.
    • Evaluation of demand, supply and inventory scenarios.
    • Identification of inventory, cost and service improvement opportunities.
  • Serving as a Supply Chain resource, analyst and/or representative for special projects and initiatives.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Life Sciences, Business, or relevant field required.
  • 8+ years of relevant experience in the biotechnology or pharmaceutical industry, including some prior supervisory responsibilities; MBA is a plus.
  • Functional or team leadership skills and proven ability to collaborate and build relationships.
  • Ability to work within a matrix team environment.
  • Capable to understand, integrate and communicate scientific, operational, financial and commercial concepts to a wide range of stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical stills and demonstrated experience with ERP system(s).
  • Experience with software tools for planning is a plus.
  • Must have excellent communication skills (verbal and written).
  • Highly organized with a strong attention to detail, clarity, accuracy and conciseness.
  • Highly proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
